A fun new linky party - Grey Dey Thursdey!

It seems I am not the only one who has noticed that grey is becoming rather popular. Some of my most favourite blogs have featured grey lately. So it is really lovely to see that PETITE MICHELLE LOUISE has started a new weekly linky party, GREY DEY THURSDEY.

It just so happened that I had found a few grey things at the last brocante I went to, which was yesterday, on THURSDAY. How is that for a coincidence?

First off,  I found a little stack of these wonderful old plain postcards from 1901. They had greyed with age, with just the tiniest hint of colour, and the printed stamp is a lovely deep grey. The beautiful handwriting had also faded to a deep grey from the original black ink -

I also found a bunch of little keys. Rather than going rusty, they had developed this grey bloom all over -

Two steely grey oil cans -

That was it, as far as GREY is concerned. The rest of yesterday's finds were creamy, white and lacy ;-).

I still haven't had a chance to post the photos from last weekend's 2-day town festival. I will do that this weekend, promise!

Until then, toodlepip and thank you so much for visiting.

Blissful BABY Whites Wednesday

Aaah, baby things, totally irresistible and so cute! I was so happy when I found these gorgeous little things at a brocante a little while ago.

The baby shoe is completely hand stitched and so delicately embroidered, I just fell in love with it straight away. The colour is so beautiful as well, not really white, not really pink, perhaps one could call it champagne, or oyster -

At a different brocante I found this darling little Christening box. The graphics are so very beautiful, don't you think? -

And at yet another vide grenier I came across this adorable tiny baby top. I adore the hand stitched broderie anglaise -

Not quite baby size, but certainly small child size, this collar stole my heart as well. Beautifully embroidered and trimmed with the finest lace, it really is quite special. Just try imagining it on a Victorian or Edwardian little girl's dress -

I hope these lovely little things brought a smile to your face as well.

I am linking this post to Becky's Blissful Whites Wednesday over at her TIMEWASHED blog. So many lovely whites to check out!

Our Beautiful World - STRONG

The word prompt over at the OUR BEAUTIFUL WORLD blog today is STRONG. We had been to day one of a weekend long country fair yesterday, and it was the day of the agricultural competion, eg, who could plough the straightest furrows, who could cut wood in the shortest time etc. When I was thinking about the word prompt, I remembered these two guys who wielded this enormous great big two handled saw, and you gotta be STRONG to get that to work properly -

And then they had a competition to see who could chop through this enormous log the quickest, using this enormous, very heavy axe -

I would hardly be able to lift one of those, let alone swing it! So thats my interpretation of STRONG for this week's prompt.

I took many photos yesterday, I love farm machinery and I love farm animals, so be prepared for a long country post. Today the festivities are in town, rather than the fields, and if it doesn't rain, we'll be down there later this afternoon to enjoy the folk dancing etc. And take photos of course :-).

Until then, toodlepip xxx

What's new in the shop?

OOOPS, I am so sorry, I meant to post this on my vintageland blog. It wasn't until I previewed the post that I realised I was in lalaland. REALLY in lalaland this time, sigh, the sun must have fried my brain. But it is late and I really can't face doing this all again on the vintageland blog so just this once I am going to leave the Etsy stuff on here. Thank you for being understanding.

I can't believe that August is almost over, where have the days gone? A lot of time is spent visiting friends or being visited, taking care of the veggies, and of course going to brocantes and haggling. How I love haggling with the French, we have so much fun. I am fast running out of packaging materials and have no way of getting more as I haven't got a clue where to get the sort of office supplies I need, lol. So I am not sure how much more I can list while we are in France. I have a few gorgeous large pieces, like the big pink and white pitcher, a very large oyster basket, wine bottle carriers, things like that, and I need big boxes for those. Our local little supermarkets dont keep boxes out, sigh. Those things will have to be sent from the UK when we get back I suppose.

But I will be listing some more small pieces over the weekend, so look out for those!

Until then, toodlepip and thank you so much for stopping by and having a look! xxx
